<p>I've always dreamed of getting married outside, but what if it rains?</p><p>We've fallen in love with the idea of an outdoor ceremony. We picture saying our vows surrounded by nature, sunshine, and all of our favourite people. The problem is that we're getting married in Ontario, and the weather can be unpredictable.</p><p>Everyone keeps asking what our rain plan is, and now I'm starting to worry. Do we spend extra money on a tent? Should we choose a venue with an indoor backup space? Am I overthinking it?</p><p>Part of me wants to take the risk because outdoor weddings are exactly what I've always imagined. Another part of me is worried that one rainy day could ruin years of planning.</p><p>For couples who had outdoor weddings, wedding planners, photographers, and venue owners: how did you handle the possibility of rain? Is it worth planning for every scenario, or should we just trust that everything will work out?</p>

The short answer? Plan for rain, but don't plan on rain.
One of the biggest misconceptions couples have is that a rainy wedding day is a ruined wedding day. In reality, the most successful outdoor weddings aren't the ones with perfect weather — they're the ones with a solid backup plan.
If an outdoor ceremony is your dream, don't let the possibility of rain stop you. Instead, choose a venue that offers a beautiful indoor option, consider renting a tent if necessary, and discuss contingency plans with your vendors well in advance.
The truth is that Ontario weather can change quickly, especially during the summer months. Having a backup plan gives you peace of mind and allows you to focus on enjoying your day rather than constantly checking the forecast.
And here's something wedding photographers often say: some of the most romantic wedding photos are taken on rainy days. Soft lighting, dramatic skies, clear umbrellas, and cozy moments can create images that are just as beautiful as those taken in full sunshine.
At the end of the day, your guests won't remember whether it rained at 2:15 PM. They'll remember the emotion, the celebration, and the fact that two people they love got married.
Our advice: dream big, plan smart, and don't let a weather forecast dictate your wedding vision.
